Yesterday, the co-founder and CEO of the Fondation Dynastie Carla Beauvais received the National Assembly of Quebec medal from Marwah Rizqy , Member of Parliament for the provincial riding of Saint-Laurent, under the banner of the Liberal Party. This prestigious award recognizes the merit of individuals or organizations that have undertaken exemplary work beneficial to the community in the cultural, sporting, social, or entrepreneurial fields. This is Carla's first provincial recognition, highlighting the scope and depth of her accomplishments.

After more than 20 years working behind the scenes and on the front lines as a social entrepreneur, activist, and columnist, her resilience and passion for inclusion and diversity have made her a leading figure in the field. Of Haitian descent, she grew up in the Saint-Michel neighborhood, where she became acutely aware of social disparities and inequalities from a young age. From then on, whether at the private high school she attended, at university, or later in the job market, the importance of fighting for equality and recognition for people of African descent became her driving force.

It is with pride that I award the National Assembly of Quebec Medal to Ms. Carla Beauvais for her unwavering commitment to making Montreal's business, cultural, and political spheres more inclusive and equitable. Her social engagement for a fairer world resonates throughout Montreal and makes her an inspiring role model for young and old alike in the St. Lawrence region. Congratulations and thank you, Carla, for your influence that extends far beyond the borders of Saint-Laurent! declared Marwah Rizqy, Member of the National Assembly for the provincial riding of Saint-Laurent, Liberal Party.

From 2009 to 2022, Ms. Beauvais orchestrated and coordinated the development and organization of Black History Month . Her involvement allowed the organization not only to establish itself within Montreal's socio-cultural landscape, but also to raise awareness and engage major private and governmental partners. She is also a co-founder of the Fondation Dynastie . Created in 2016, the foundation's mission is to support and mentor Black individuals working in media, arts, and culture. The organization's numerous initiatives showcase Afro-descendant talent by facilitating its development and professionalization. The Rire en scène program , the Sommet Dynastie , the activities of the Semaine Dynastie and Gala Dynastie - a two-part event, Media Night and Culture Night, are all examples of ambitious projects that fulfill this mission and aim to sustainably transform these industries for the current and future generation.

I am deeply touched by this recognition, which highlights my involvement and achievements within my community. Throughout my journey, I have been supported by mentors, leaders, colleagues, partners, friends, and my family who believed in me and my dreams. I sincerely thank them; without them, none of this would be possible today. It has always been natural for me to help others shine. The fact that the impact and importance of my calling are recognized is a mark of appreciation that warms my heart! says Carla Beauvais, co-founder and executive director of the Fondation Dynastie

A woman of heart and commitment, this honor adds to several other distinctions won over the years:

  • Winner, Perspectives Competition (2024)

The ceremony for the presentation of the National Assembly of Quebec medal took place at the Eclektic Hub at the Citadel , a building erected last September whose name pays homage to the architectural marvel of Haiti, a symbol of affirmation, resilience, and courage. This building was Carla's dream to house the offices of the Fondation Dynastie and its ecosystem. An ideal place to experience, in a spirit of kindness, the presentation of this famous and richly deserved award!

Several distinguished guests were present, including Shirley Dorismond , MNA for Marie-Victorin (Coalition Avenir Québec), Haroun Bouazzi, MNA for Maurice-Richard (Québec Solidaire), Frantz Benjamin , MNA for Viau (Liberal Party of Quebec), Christopher Skeete (via video) , Minister for the Economy and Minister responsible for the Fight Against Racism, Dominique Anglade , former leader of the Liberal Party, Laurence Lavigne Lalonde , Mayor of the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough, and Marwah Rizqy , MNA for Saint-Laurent (Liberal Party). Alongside Carla, one immediately senses her unique personality, a blend of gentleness, curiosity, and determination. Her commitment to humanitarian projects promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion is more than admirable. A courageous pioneer, she is a source of inspiration not only for Black women who aspire to break down barriers and make their voices heard, but for our society as a whole, which suffers from a lack of representation. She is a perfect example proving that every individual has the power to create significant and lasting change. The recognition she receives is, without a doubt, commensurate with her merits ! emphasizes Margaret Archer, Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Fondation Dynastie .
