THE Sommet Dynastie 2025, placed under the sign of innovation and creativity, promises to deepen reflections around the prospects in cultural and media circles, but also to spark conversations about the opportunities to be seized in these rapidly changing industries.
It is with this in mind that the Summit team chose two emblematic figures from the cultural and creative industries to lead the major conversations of this 2nd edition, Dejha Carrington and Cameron Bailey.
Dejha Carrington – April 22, 2025
Dejha Carrington is a bridge-builder between artists and communities. Dedicated to the arts world, she is a committed professional and co-founder of Commissioner. Her work is based on a clear objective: to support artists and create models for access to art.
In 2017, she co-founded Commissioner, a membership program that encourages the collection of contemporary art within local communities. Inspired by African, Caribbean, and women's collective savings strategies, Commissioner leverages group economics to finance art commissions.
From 2015 to 2022, she was Vice President of Strategic Communications at YoungArts, the national foundation supporting emerging artists. Prior to that, she led public relations and outreach projects for the Kimball Art Museum, the Medellín Biennial in Colombia, and the National Film Board of Canada.
Born in Montreal and a graduate of McGill University, Dejha settled in Miami, where she continues to build connections between artists and communities.
At Sommet Dynastie Dejha Carrington will bring her unique expertise in supporting artists and creating models for accessing art. Through innovative models inspired by community practices, she will propose concrete solutions to enable creators to thrive independently. By rethinking art support structures, she will pave the way for a more inclusive and sustainable approach, essential for shaping the future of artistic creation.
Cameron Bailey – April 23, 2025
As Executive Director of the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Cameron Bailey brings unparalleled expertise to the world of art and cinema. With over 30 years in the business, this renowned visionary continues to push the boundaries of international cinema. Since joining TIFF, he has instilled a sense of modernity, helping to create iconic sections such as Planet Africa and highlighting diverse voices within the film industry. It is also under his leadership that TIFF has achieved global reach, becoming one of the world's leading film festivals.
In addition to his strategic leadership at TIFF, he also taught film preservation at the University of Toronto and holds an honorary doctorate from Western University. His influence extends far beyond the film industry: he was elected a Fellow of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France. For over 12 years, Toronto Life listed him annually as one of Toronto's 50 most influential people.
Cameron Bailey, a true pioneer, also raises crucial questions about how technology is redefining our relationship with art. How can artificial intelligence enrich, rather than replace, human creativity? How can technological innovation be reconciled with the fundamental values of culture and diversity? These are just some of the questions on which Cameron Bailey, whose career has been marked by a commitment to democratizing access to culture, will offer a unique perspective.
The conversation with Dejha Carrington will take place on Tuesday, April 22nd at 2:00 PM and will be moderated by Keithy Antoine.
The conversation with Cameron Bailey will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 1:00 PM and will be moderated by Martine St-Victor.
