At the end of the program, you will be able to share an excerpt of your masterpiece with an audience during a public reading!

Target Audience

Applicants aged 18 and over. Aspiring writers, experienced or new to the profession, with a work permit or Canadian resident status. Residents of the Island of Montreal

Who is the training intended for?

Do you have a passion for writing? Do you show a strong interest in creative writing? Do you have a work that you would eventually like to present in a professional context? Finally, are you looking for a program that could support you in the development of a project you are working on?

If you answered yes to all these questions, the " Get Writing! " program is the perfect opportunity for you!

The training

Eligibility criteria
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • To reside on the Island of Montreal
  • To identify as a person from the Black, Francophone or Anglophone communities
  • Possess a work permit or resident status;
  • To be a writer or to demonstrate a strong interest in literature 
  • Be available to actively participate in person for the entire duration of the program.
  • Possess the ability to follow courses in French
  • Be prepared to work in a team, receive constructive criticism, and develop your creative writing skills by actively attending classes and participating in program activities.

Step 2: Introduce yourself!

Attach your form: 

  1. An excerpt from your literary project (5-7 pages maximum)
  2. A presentation of your literary project (2 pages max.) including: 
  • 1. Project title (even provisional)
  • 2. Type of work (Novel, short story, poetry, play, essay, autofiction, etc.)
  • 3. Summary of the idea (4 to 6 lines max): Describe the essence of your project. What are you talking about? What is the core of the story or the message?
  • 4. Author's intention: Why this project? What is your personal connection to the subject? What are you seeking to explore, denounce, transmit or experience?
  • 5. Project status: Are you at the very beginning? Do you already have a plan, a manuscript in progress, or written texts? What do you wish to explore further during the program?
  • 6. Target audience and desired reach: Who is your work aimed at? Do you have aspirations for publication, independent publishing, performance, or simply personal development?
  • 7. Budget outline (optional but recommended)
  1. A 2-minute video to tell us about you, your writing world and what A vos plumes! means to you.

Step 3: Confirmation of your registration

Once the form is submitted, a confirmation message will appear to confirm that your application has been received.

Step 4: Evaluation of your application

Once you have submitted your application, our team will review the details of the documents you share. Through your submissions, we will assess your creativity, writing style, and editing skills. We are looking for candidates who are ready to fully commit to this program. Rest assured that we take the time to carefully analyze each application.

Step 5: Updates on your registration

We will keep you informed of the progress of your application by email. Successful candidates will be contacted by email between September 12th and 19th, 2025. Stay tuned!
